# Timeouts

This takes away the user’s ability to talk and react to messages in all of the channels. This does not take away their ability to see the channels or contact our Support Bot.

1. Take a screenshot of the content in question.
2. Verify the rule break with one other moderator.&#x20;
   * Ping `@ ❰ Mod team ❱` in `#🌊︲active-situations`&#x20;
   * You may continue without additional input if no one responds within **30 minutes**.&#x20;
3. Delete the content in question.
4. Go to `╭🎍・staff-commands` and check the ID with the ["whois" command. ](/moderation-guide/handling-rule-breaks/moderation-commands/whois.md)
5. Use the ["mute" command](/moderation-guide/handling-rule-breaks/moderation-commands/mute.md) to issue a Timeout.
