# Verbal Warnings

Used to inform the user that they’ve broken a rule and to remind them to read the rules again.

1. Reply to the message in question or ping the user. Inform them of which rule was broken and why their message was a violation.
2. Delete the message.
3. Go to `╭🎍・staff-commands` and use the ["note" command](/moderation-guide/handling-rule-breaks/moderation-commands/note-notes.md) to document the rule break.
4. Answer any additional questions they may have. If they're argumentative direct them to our [Support Bot](https://terrarium.gitbook.io/terrarium-wiki/rules-and-policies/need-help) and don't engage further.&#x20;
